The Black Salt Powder, also known as Kala Namak powder, is a ground form of Black salt. The black salt is found mostly in Himalayas Region. The Black salt powder is produced from mines in Bangladesh, India, Nepal, and Pakistan. This Salt is mainly harvested from the Sāmbhar Salt Lake of North India and the Mustang district of Nepal.


The Black Salt powder has been used as a condiment for many years in Asian countries. The black salt powder consists primarily of sodium chloride, which is the main component of table salt, and trace impurities that include sulfates, sulfides, iron, and magnesium. The sodium chloride provides the salty taste, the iron sulfide provides its pinkish-grey color, and the hydrogen sulfide provides its distinctive smell. It often resembles the smell of rotten egg.
