The Coconut fruit can botanically refer as a drupe, not as a nut. The Coconut fruit derived from the coconut tree that is the member of the family Arecaceae. The coconut has originated in the Indian –Indonesia region and after they have float-distributed themselves around the world. The Majority of world production comes from Indonesia, Philippines, India, Brazil, and Sri Lanka.


A Coconut is a large hairy, brown drupe that grows on the coconut tree. These are distinct from other fruits for their large quantity of water and when immature, they are known as tender nuts and may be cultivated for their coconut water. When Mature, they can be used as seed nuts to give coconut oil from the kernel, charcoal from the hard shell, and coir from the fibrous husk. The oil and Milk derived from it are commonly used in cooking and frying, as well as in soaps and cosmetics.


Fresh Unopened Coconuts can be stored at room temperature for up to four months. Grated fresh coconut should be put in a tightly sealed container and stored in the refrigerator for up to 4 days or frozen for up to six months.


The Coconut has used in varieties of cuisines worldwide. The Coconuts provides oil for frying and cooking.  The white, fleshy part of the coconut is used as fresh or dried in many cooking especially in confectionary and desserts. The coconut milk is used in the preparation of curries and other savory dishes. The coconut milk is often used in main courses, desserts, and soups throughout the worldwide, mainly major producer of coconuts.
