Black Pepper Whole

The Black Pepper, botanical name Piper nigrum, is a flowering vine in the family Piperaceae, cultivated for its fruit, which usually dried and used as a spice and seasoning. The Dried version of fruit is known as a peppercorn. The Black pepper is native to south India and is extensively cultivated in tropical regions. The Major producers of White Pepper are Vietnam, India, Brazil, China, and Indonesia.


The Black pepper is cultivated from the still green, unripe drupes of the pepper plant. Then Drupes are cooked briefly in hot water and after that, they will dry in the sun or by machines for several days. During the drying process, the outer layer of pepper seed shrinks and darkens into a thin, wrinkled black layer.  After Dry, the pepper has become black peppercorn. Once the peppercorns are dried, pepper spirit and oil can be extracted from the berries by crushing them.


The Whole black peppercorns will keep almost indefinitely. While crushed pepper will stay fresh for about three months if they should be kept in a tightly sealed glass container in a cool, dark, and dry place.


The Black pepper is widely used whole, crushed or ground to add spiciness and flavor to dishes. They are used in salads, egg dishes, soups, stocks, sauces, marinades, and stews. They are also used to add flavor to hamburgers, sandwiches, rissoles, sausages and meat and poultry dishes. It is also often used in instant noodles and snacks.
